Backstory: (The following is a summary:)
Sameria was the Half Aethen/Half Human descendant of a settler from Perth, and a Native Aethen who had settled on a frigid shoreline in the northern wilderness of Perth's northern frontier. An unlikely pairing between her parents, a female human and an elven male, she took the Aethen name as a means to bridge between the gulf between the two species. While the few Aethen who stayed within the settlement were relatively peaceful and coperative, the vast majority of the nomadic natives were beyond approach, thankfully not coming near the small community clustered around the large tree on the shoreline at Kaltdvanne.
Growing up, having an aptitude for learning and a desire to improve and innovate, Sameria requested to be sent on a number of voyages to visit the Kingdom of Perth at Dunn, passing the at the time steadily growing Glas Claddach on the shoreline further down the coast. King Scrios II was noted to have a fatherly affection for studious youngsters and encouraged learning within the Kingdom. Sameria's bright hair and numerous visits caught the eye of the King and, sensing an opportunity to bring the humans and the Aethen (In perth at least) closer together, took her under his tutelage and sponsored her learning.
At the age of 23, after years of academia and time spent in the Royal Court of Perth, Sameria was chosen in a groundbreaking decision to become the anointed Duchess of the newly named Duchy of the Ilmenite Coast. Her life's work was devoted to applying the lessons from her upbringing in Kaldtvanne and Perth - the benefits of coming together with alliances and communities - and taking them abroad to the Empire at large.
In the year 371, Sameria gave birth to a baby daughter, an Aethen father and thus making her 3/4 Aethen, 1/4 human.
Samaia Almandine was raised and given all of the benefits that a Duchess of Perth could provide. Despite being of Perth, a distinct effort was made to include as much Snow Elven culture and language as possible, with many visits north. Samaia's story can be found on her own page.
