I maintain there is little need for any changes here. Lieges should be pushing their vassal to build their very best regardless of whether they intend to become independent or not.

If a vassal were considering independence I should expect them to be speaking with their liege and discussing their plans and options open to them so when they actually become independent they know what they're doing.

A liege's role is not just to delegate tasks and provide a land to call home, they should be supporting their vassals and offering advice and assistance, especially in a matter as large as this.

I would not argue with uniformity in the requirements for countship and dukeship, but I do not believe there should be any further restrictions on independence but more rigorous support.

You are making the assumption that every liege does this based off of your experience with Scrios. Not everyone is Scrios.

Then perhaps there should be some measures put in place to ensure such support is being offered instead of restricting vassals.

Do you have any suggestions on how to do that?

The easiest is as vegueros says to make uniform the requirements for ascension.

I'm all for that! That would have been my preferred suggestion, but there was great opposition to that on mumble as many see that as the liege's prerogative.

We can always pass a non-binding resolution providing guidelines on what lieges should look for when deciding to promote a vassal. Things like time spent as part of the community, activity level, and builds could all be discussed. This leaves the power to determine ascension and to grant the right of independence to lieges while still shaping how they do so.

I think with Morgana's and chairman's suggestions we could have a good resolution to this!

We talked more on mumble and agree that some sort of "guideline" would help quite a bit. I'll work on a suggestion based off of the OP!

Can people who became independent give me the name/location of the place they built to become a Count?

Also I'd like to see what non-independent people made to become count.
