This bill has seen communal debate and discussion through the Proposed Legislation section of the Mercurian Parliament and is now ready for voting by the Council of the Crowned.

------

Greetings All,

Despite the fact that we live in a fantasy world, there are very much real limits to how old certain species can live. After that, well, is death. After some recent discussion, everyone seems to agree we should have concrete age limits.

Age Limits for Sapient Species

1. Player's characters will be limited in age. That age will change per species, with the following numbers:

Humans 115

Dwarfs 130

Elves 150

Orcs 70

Pyrencian 50

These numbers should by no means be considered the average.

2. If a player choses to be a hybrid species, their age will be limited by the average of those two numbers.

3. If or when a new species is created, the upper age limit for that species must be determined concurrently, in accordance with communal consensus for the creation of that species.

4. If a player refuses to end their character at the upper limit, a notice will be posted on the forum declaring that character was been found dead. It is up to the player at that point to write the lore for their death.

And if they don't, can we try them and then burn them as a witch?

This is the Mercurian Parliament; let's please try to keep off-topic asides and references to a minimum if no one minds.

Appreciate your support Regent! This law was borne out of a lore dispute which was unequivocally my fault, and has gone over review and alteration to ensure that what you read here meets with general community acceptance even before it is posted for discussion and debate. A sterling example of collective problem-solving!

You misunderstand. I am being serious.

So it's been a while for me. It seems no one protests, so when do kings or Duke begin voting on this?

Once it seems as though near-communal consensus has been reached on teh language, we are free to move this topic into the Council Voting section; if the House of Dukes wishes to help this bill along they can create a separate bill voting on this same language whose passing will allow for this bill to be passed with a lower number of Council votes. Seeing as we look to be in agreement, I'll do both now.

I'm interested in the historical baisis and lore for the death of Orcs at age 70? Why is their upper limit conserably less than humans or dwarfs?

The orcs are a genetic experimentation, a species resulting from the mixing of human and elf genetic materials by the elves in the Cycle of the Moon. Bred as warriors and heavy-lifters for the elven peoples, they were endowed with great physical strength but as a consequence lived a shorter life.

Sir Nick is right, this has been a longstanding understanding historically speaking.
