Additionally it would be nice, if we could, after deciding how many ppl will be in each council, rig up a site where all the members of the councils can be seen in one view, maybe with their mc skins and the name of their countries. After the reelection this would then be updated.

That is a really good idea. Could this be done on the wiki?

It is something that at the very least could be done manually.

It is something that could be done manually. Once we have pictures of each member of the Dukes/Kings we can simply copy paste the images into the appropriate council slots, easy peasy.

So a few of us have been talking about ways to improve and streamline the voting system and put more emphasis on the community, new, and active players.

This new system involves two councils, the same as we have now. They will be dubbed the Lower Council (former House of Dukes) and the High Council (former Council of the Crowned). Both will hold the same vote requirements as their predecessors, so every law doesn't have to be rewritten to accommodate new vote requirements.

The High Council will be made up of Dukes and Kings that get voted in by the community. Kings get 2 votes and Dukes get 1 vote. This puts a much larger emphasis on active Dukes. Every two months, or three or whatever we choose, there will be an election to put people on the High Council. Every Duke and King is eligible and must pass a vote threshold to be elected. Every community member can vote for who they wish to be on the High Council. This puts a much larger emphasis on the community as a whole.

Every active Duke and King that didn't make the vote threshold for the High Council will be put on the Lower Council where they assume the role of the old House of Dukes.

I will make an infographic to explain this a little more clearly in a bit.

Going to have a crack at the writing some legalese for this, remind me when read as im rather sleepy at the moment,

Awesome let me know if you need assistance. If you need help I just need to be brought up to speed on the actual dynamics of this structure. I understand the basic intent already though :)

So im going to roughly get down what we have so far. Everything is up for debate still, ironing out the details and such.

High Council
Replaces the current Council of the Crowned and assumes same legal roles and responsibilities.

Low Council
Replaces the current House of Dukes and assumes same legal roles and responsibilities.

Kings
Will count as two votes on their respective council.

Dukes
Will count as one vote on their respective council.

Voting for the High Council
This vote will occur every three months (semi-frequently, but not so often that it's annoying). Every member of the community will be able to cast a single vote for who they wish to be on the High Council. The members with the most votes will be added to the High Council until a certain percentage of active Dukes and Kings is met. A re-vote will be held if a certain percentage is not met, minus the members that already obtained enough votes.(e.g. scrios gets 12 votes and the runner up has 0 votes)
[50% maybe? Should the percentage be higher when there are fewer active players and get lower with more players?]

Eligibility for the High Council
[*]Must be active at least one week before voting begins
[*]Must be a Duke or a King before the voting starts

It'll work the same as it currently does. They can voluntarily make themselves inactive, or after so much inactivity, they will automatically be made inactive. And if they don't vote on something within the set amount of time, then they aren't counted towards the voting total.

Looking good Siden!
I like the idea. On how long should we set the time for inactivity and what counts as activity?
