https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/store/a ... BLGGH2JHXJI remember chatting with some of us on mumble a week or two ago. We asked, "when will it be out of java?"
It turns out, and most of you probably already know this, it is. But it's not good news for some of us.
First of all, it's no where near at parity yet. It has a fraction of the features (but that will change).
Second, it's Windows 10 only. FUCK. I refuse to get this OS because it scans your practices for ad/sense data. It's basically no better than a google OS, and you know how I feel about that. Watch porn? You can be assured Microsoft knows.
Third, MICRO-TRANSACTIONS. Goddamnit.
Fourth, no mod support for the foreseeable future.
Fifth, rumor has it the devs are prioritizing it, and will never send the java version to 2.0.
The future of minecraft might be a bit bleaker than I anticipated. Sure, it will be around for a generation to come (mostly due to children buying it). But for us veteran players, it might not be the game/spirit we love. Worse still, we might lose our Hermertia. Once mods DO come out (and they will, microsoft won't be that stupid), then hopefully we'll be able to port the java game into the Windows 10 version. But that means some of us can't make the transition until we get this OS.
Lastly, how will modding and microtransactions work at the same time?? Why would anyone use microtransactions when there are mods? Will they nerf mods like some games to maximize microtransactions? Or are the microtransactions just going to target naive children and their parents?
thoughts? assuage my fears brothers and sisters!
