I know, I know, you're starting to hate me. Whatever, as long as I don't get banned because zeal.

Currently,
- Cycle is the term used to refer to large periods of times that start and end because of events.
- Era is the term used to refer to fixed cycles of twelve mercannums.

What I believe causes repeated confusion even with the older players is that these words mean the opposite of what they represent in Hermertia.

- Cycle is defined as any complete round or series of occurrences that repeats or is repeated, such as our current "eras".

- Era is defined as a period of time marked by distinctive character, events, etc. such as our current "cycles".

I think now is the perfect moment to rectify our terminology as we are about to rebuild the Library.

Thoughts?

While I do agree and your point does make sense, the current terminology has been around since the beginning - the Cycles have been formed by lore and in-game events over centuries to the point where they are ingrained in our lore, and I don't personally think we should change it at this point. Just my two cents.

I am no so sure that they are so ingrained in people's heads though, and the words cycle and era are, I believe no so prevalent in the lore. They mostly mentioned in a few documents: the FAQ and the timeline, which wouldn't be very difficult to change.

We are continually trying to get new players, I think using terms whose meaning is interchanged is not immersion friendly, the system would be easier to learn and remember if the words used mean what they are used for.

There are pros and cons, I think that now is not too late for the pros to overcome the cons. Later might be.

If we were making a new world and Lore we'd go with that as it makes sense.

However we've had this since this convention for naming these things since the very beginning over 4 years ago I am not for changing it.

I agree with others here, most of my books I kept were titled with the current dating conventions as well as many buildings in some older parts of the empire have signs with the dating system as well.

Fair enough, the repercussions might indeed be much more important than I realize.

I concur with the others, a change like this would require a vast change on multiple levels. We might as well do away with Mercanna with this change. Let's not touch it

OFF WITH HER HEAD

okay. maybe not. probably a little extreme. will check with gimpy though, hes the rational one. However, I also would not like to touch it. No touchy touchy. I swear to Azarn I will get the anatomically correct dolls out again.

I agree. Thank you for the suggestion but I too think it should be left for now.
