1.11.1 is Removing Infinity + Mending Enchanting

However, that doesn't prevent us from having them for the future.

Your old bows will still work, and will retain both enchants.

What does this mean for us, ultimately?

Well, here's a guide to being able to make infinity + mending bows in the future, and it does require a bit of work now before we update (1.11.1 is live now, but we have not updated yet as a server):

1. Make infinity+ mending bows NOW - BEFORE THE UPDATE. Do it one book at a time. The order does not matter. Don't combine them into a super book. That costs one extra XP that you may need!

YES, THIS MEANS YOU MUST MAKE THEM NOW BECAUSE THE COMBINED BOOK WILL NOT WORK AFTER THE UPDATE!

2. After the update, you can still use this bow and add enchantments to it. Add enchantments from books, but don't combine too many books. These are things that work:

* combining Power IV books into a Power V book, then applying to a bow.

* Combining Punch I books to make a Punch II book, then applying to a bow.

* Adding Flame, Power V, Punch II, and unbreaking III to a bow that has infinity and mending from before the update.

THINGS YOU SHOULD NOT DO:

* Combine books to make the power IV books. It will likely make it too expensive. Purchase (or enchant from a table) Power IV books, then combine, then put on the bow.

* Combine books to make unbreaking III books. Buy these from villagers (or enchant from a table), cheap enough as is.

* Apply Power IV or Punch I books separately. This costs far too much - really quick as well.

Consider yourselves warned!

Siden said he'd give us warning, I'll let him chime in on that

I'll give it a week minimum before I update since it's not very important. I'll update once im sure all of the latest plugins and mods are working.

Such a dumb update.

what is the point in making people jump through hoops like this?

I'll stock up anyway. Also make sure we're ready stock wise before updating

Something I've found that works is enchanting a ton of bows, and combining 2 to make a perfect or near perfect bow, such as two Power4 bows that have varying combos of the other enchants (Punch2 Inf Flame Unb3) to get one that's missing only mending and 1 or 2 other enchants.

Why are they removing these enchants?

They arent removing the enchants, just the ability to put them both on a bow

That's helpful if you are making them right now, but this post is aimed at helping people know what to do if they make a ton of just infinity + mending bows so they can grind the rest of the enchants later.

Can we wait until the new year to update so people have time to grind for these bows if they so desire?
