In a poorly timed manner (as most deaths are) Merry merrily passed away while gormandizing in pumpkin pie. A crude autopsy revealed that the intestines themselves had become stressed. The coroner ruled it "a death by misadventure". The population of Maes is writing this letter while deciding who Merry's successor shall be. Currently we have a strong candidate who is called Jolly Gaylord. He has showed himself a good leader, and even Merry approved of him. As Jolly is not directly related with Merry we are having a vote here in the village. We'll send the vote results to the lords and ladies of Hermertia so that they can recognise the new ruler of Crop Distric in the Grand Duchy of Wysteria.

With great respect and awe the collective village of Maes sends you this letter. Have a great day, and may Merry have one too (as well as one can have it when dead that is).

A time for deep sorrow and mourning following the cheery, enthusaistic and always smiling Merry, son of Snail of Wysteria. He was a friend to House Almandine, and will always be remembered.

If there is anything your people need in their time of mourning of their leader's death, please, let us know.

Yours, Samyrrah.

As a fellow fan of what we here call gourd pie, we are truly worried this is not the last well hear of this kind of death.

Ay, t'is a sad day for the peoples of Wysteria. Merry was one of the two great leaders of the initial Wysterian settling venture, as the great expert in agriculture joined the elder Nicholas to set out in search of a new homeland. I know well the extent to which his support was vital in those early days, and have often marveled at the peace and tranquility evoked by the lush fields of the Crop District, a true brainchild of his. All of Wysteria shall miss his expertise and his passion for all growing things.

On a lighter note, it is lovely to hear from the peoples of the Crop District in a formal capacity again. I look forward to presenting a warm welcome to Merry's successor.

I would like to shake the hand of that coroner...after he washes it of course.
