The current server world is using default biome size setting as opposed to the large biome setting we've been using for the past few years. I propose a binding resolution to generate a new, large biome world with a new seed selected using amidst or a similar program. The seed would be kept secret while we build the spawn city. As this is a resolution, it would not need to be added to the codex.

Thoughts?

Beat me by 7 minutes to make this post.

Seems fair! I dont want anyone to be annoyed or upset by the creation of a new area and the choice made on the biomes size without a proper discussion first!

I am ok with large biomes or small, however a wide selection of biomes that could be generated with either biome size would be beneficial I think.

Should we have a poll?

I would much prefer default size, the current large biomes are while more realistic incredibly boring to traverse, this new land is small and to use large biomes will likely mean we have very few of some biomes while having an egregious amount of one kind at BEST

I think those are fair points about large biomes, Gimpy. However, I think we can mitigate the problem of having a low variety of biomes by checking various seeds beforehand in amidst and selecting one that has a good variety. I'll look in amidst to see if this is possible.

In case anyone is wondering, large biomes are 4x larger (in each dimension) than default biomes. So a 20K x 20K large biome world will contain the same biomes as a 5k x 5k default world.

What you say is true chairman, but they also mean warm biomes and cold biomes group together a LOT more so they are crazy in length, it depends on the seed but even with the best one I feel like the the difference in biomes wouldnt be very large

After a little bit of research I think that it would be nice to have large biomes. We should have a good variation of everything that we could want within a 20x20k area. But I also think that if we do, bamboo biomes should be covered under the same protection that mushroom and ice spike biomes. Ill make a voting thread so we can resolve this issue asap and people dont invest too much time in a world that isnt even going to matter.

If we do choose to reset with a large biome generation I will be sure to find a seed that has a good diversity before we do generate.

I've created a poll to vote. All users of Hermertia will be allowed a vote.
