Recently, reports have rolled in of pirates attacking and pillaging trade ships coming from Östlaed and Wychwood. In order to combat this I commissioned the first ship to be built for the Grand Navy of Erikos, the EWV Fate. The ship is both the first war vessel to be built, and is also the first boat to be built in the Invictus Class of ships. This class, designed and created and from a mixture of pre-existing designs and new techniques, is a small ship being manned by 15-20 men. It has 8 cannons in total, and as a result is slower than other ships in the Katoraktonion Sea. The ship made her maiden voyage with myself on it, and immediately ran into unfortunate pirates who were quickly dealt with and given the punishment they deserve of their crimes; death.

The ship, after thorough inspection, is certainly sea worthy, and is certainly worthy of carrying the motto of myself and of the County of Erikos, “I am the Master of my Fate, I am the Captain of my Soul”, thanks to her beauty and grace as she glides through the waters. Already the ship has shown herself as being truly a masterpiece of our early engineering.

An impressive vessel! Those pesky pirates will be no match. On a side note, I'm not sure cannons quite fit with our level of scientific development lore-wise. This subject is one of the options I have lined up for the next monthly lore discussion.

Wychwood is pleased to see additional forces patrolling the nearby seas. The pirate menace we have long suffered will soon feel our collective wrath.

Oh right, I wasn't too sure about cannons but I thought, since they were invented in the 1100s (though they were rudimentary), that it might be okay, I'll pay close attention to the up-coming discussion!

The way I always saw cannons was that we had "dispenser" cannons that could fire a wide variety of charges: powerful bolts (aka arrows), small yield explosives (fire charges) and soon rudimentary gunpowder rockets with 1.11.2

I agree with Mark. Cannons are compatible with the rough real time date of our lore (Middle ages, 1300 - 1400ish) and also with in game items via dispensers and fire charges/arrows.

Right, but we shouldn't confuse early cannons with later ones:

with ones made hundreds of years later.

I've got a discussion OP ready for this topic. I might as well post it now since we have the discussion started.
