We have already had that discussion in this same thread with regarding to the ministry. Otherwise:

Small: literally a shack or barely larger

Medium: in the middle somewhere

Large: at least a few stories

Extra-Large: You know it when you see it.

This is mostly for fun, and not meant to be taken totally 100% seriously. After all, some culture may have more people per a home!

Just to bump Arjens point, a lot of people have been using this sort of population calculation in serious discussions and using it to settle lore and legal arguments. If people are going to take it this seriously, there should at least be guidelines so people arent boasting about their population size only to have others argue that they measured it wrong.

There is a very large range in between a dirt hut and a building that's a few stories. There are multi-story buildings in acholm that I wouldnt consider large, and there are single story buildings in acholm that I would consider large. The terms are very non-specific and considering how much people argue about it, this should probably be clarified.

I think a catalog of different builds in each category would help for getting everyone on the same page about building size classifications.

What's interesting as well is that building size matters very little the larger you get in a town. In smaller places it matters a lot, but after awhile, the difference between a small and an extra large is minimal compared to the fact that you built one at all.

Additionally, it would help in certain lore situations if people would not try to cause issues - just work together and try not to mess with others lote, especially if you don't typically post any yourself.

The major place I see population used to settle lore disputes is armed conflict. In this case, I say the best way to resolve them is by fighting a battle in-game, with the victor lorifying their victory and its consequences. Lore is best when it is informed by gameplay.
