The county of Mirkwood is currently the most northern county within the greater realm of Wychwood. Bordered by Wychwood County to the south west and Diamond Bay to the south east, it is surrounded elsewhere by lands so far untamed.
The local economy in Mirkwood is based primarily on mining and logging, in stark contrast to the more varied economy of Wychwood County in the south west.

Mirkwood is served by an overworld connection to Wychwood County, mainly facilitating merchants and travellers from Isenwich to Oakvale, as well as a main route for timber to be transported south from the county’s main logging camp.
The county has one nether portal, situated in the centre of Greatwood Forest. This Nether portal was set up by archaeologists and historians who are currently documenting a recently discovered dwarven underground settlement.
