The Meeting of Cerdic and Zariin In the winter of 547, Ealdorman Cerdic rode with a great host east to the home of the Daelons - Tunindael Farthing. Isaerndael had been seized a few weeks earlier without bloodshed. Patrols of mounted knights from Frithengest still dominated much of the roads throughout Tunindael, therefore the rest of the Farthing was not controlled by Ostlond. In recent days, the Knights of Tunindael, along with their still strong militia harassed these forces of the weak Halig Frecan. Mark II still foolishly hoped they would remain loyal - foolish indeed! Tunindael had done nothing to help his war effort, instead disrupting supply caravans and kidnapping knights traveling through the Farthing of the Daelons. Ealdorman Cerdic formslly requested the loyalty of the Daelons from Lady Zariin during this meeting. His request was welcomed, and the fair Lady of the Daelons pledged her support in the battles to come. Haligstrom was now cut off from supplies and troops in the north. Frithengest would become vulnerable to incursions from the south now. |
