The news of Östlaed leaving the empire, and Östlond leaving Östlaed has caused much turmoil, as to be expected. Various forces, within and without the realm, are furiously struggling to secure their power base. In Northubeorc, Eorl Kalo has given this ultimatum to the inhabitants of the monastery: For all those loyal to the Order in Acholm, this is your only opportunity to leave. The fundamentalists are no longer welcome in Gelderlond. As I do not wish to shed unnecessary Östron blood, I will allow a full day for all loyal to Östlaed to travel to Acholm. It is my hope that you repay this act of mercy by doing so peacefully. Any who fail to comply will face immediate exile, and if necessary execution. Those loyal to Östlond are encouraged to stay and comprise the Order of knights in Gelderlond. I must emphasize my desire for lack of bloodshed. There will be plenty enough in the coming times. --- Afterwords, most of the knights and clerics set sail for Acholm, especially the ones appointed from Östlaed held territory. A portion remained, mostly those from Gelderlond, Wiccaweald, or other Östlond controlled regions of the realm. Many fundamentalist knights took arms and resisted from inside the monastery for several hours, but pressure from the Östlond knights and the Archers' Guild quickly settled the dispute. In total, a little over dozen people died, most of them resisting fundamentalists. This event has been the largest bloodshed Northubeorc has ever seen, but many fear this is only the beginning. |
