Can an Isilian be Eorl?

This question plagued the thanes of Northubeorc. He may be ethnically Östron, he may be Creeperist, he may have even been trained as a knight in the Östlaed Monastery. But a native Östron he is not. The vast majority of his life has been spent in service of the King of New Isilioth, not the Ealdorman of Östlaed, however close their relationship.

Many of the thanes immediately rejected the marriage between him and the widow of the Grootthane of the Northubeorc, though intense negotiation, persuasion, and even bribery ensured a tenuous deal. In 529, Kalo Auratavia married Eltha Northubeorce, bringing him into the control of the majority of the Northubeorci realm, but his Isilian holdings were to be completely a separate domain, and fealty was to be established to Ealdorman Accynnafon of Östlaed.

The Thanesmoot of 530 brought this tenuous peace to a crashing halt. Discontent against the foreign Eorl was still very present among the more powerful thanes of Northubeorc, and even across Östlaed. The meeting resulted in a narrowly decided vote: the foreign count could be eorl, but eorl of Northubeorc and Northubeorc only.

This resulted in the Abdication Proclamation of 530. Count Kalo Auratavia would immediately abdicate the County of Tiberford to his younger brother, Gunther, cut all former loyalties to King Tiber III, and swear his primary loyalty to the Östron people. In return, he would receive no further resistance from the thanes of Östlaed concerning his presence in the Östron realm.
