After the construction of a greater hall as a part of the Östur in Westmead, Acholm, a great Thanesmoot was held. Every Eorl, Thane, Monk, Master, and Knight was invited to join in the festivities, and to sit in on the Thanesmoot.

Ealdorman Mark Accynnafon made two announcements as a part of sweeping reforms to the realm:

* Worship of any spirits important to Östron mythology is to be allowed, legal, and protected. The construction of shrines and temples will be allowed. The Order of Sanct Creopbaina will undergo reforms to their liturgy to celebrate the great diversity of nature worship in the Östron religion. Creeperism, however, will still be the primary religion.

* Commercial quantities of ale, mead, wine, whiskey, magical mushrooms, and pipeweed may be produced by any licensed guild or household. This is only legalizing something that was tradition and occurred anyways within the Östron communities since before they were even called Östrons.

The ensuing brawl nearly burned down the new mead hall. Knights of the Order, religious Thanes, and the Brothers of the Order viciously attacked the Ealdorman and the less religious Thanes in attendance. The Thanes of areas outside the realm (including known raiding Thanes) in particular took strong revenge against the Creeperist elements, outright killing the Master of the Frithengestshire Monastery. The Ealdorman's guard managed to settle the massive brawl in the end, however, not without repercussions.

The following morning, Ealdorman Mark Accynnafon held a trial, where several Thanes and Brothers of the Order were sentenced for their crimes. Not only had these new laws been announced among the largest Thanesmoot to ever occur, but their spirit and legality were enforced by the Ealdorman himself. In the case of the Thane of a hamlet in Frithengestshire, whom murdered one of the sons of the Thane of Wiccaweald, death was served as the sentence for the crime.

~oOo~

The events of the Thanesmoot of 527 deeply troubled Mark Accynnafon the II. In the wake of the loss of his wife, Breda, and at the age of 29 with no children of his own, Mark was bordering on insanity. It was with no pleasure that he attended a meeting called by the Master of the Acholm monastery. He assumed that the meeting would be attended by all the Brothers of the monastery, however, it was not - it was only him and the Master. During this meeting, the Master of the Acholm monastery resigned his position due to injuries sustained during the previous day's brawl. He named Mark as the new master of the Acholm Monastery - the largest of the Order's monasteries.

Mark Feldred Accynnafon, son of the Grand Master, was now Master of the Order's most important monastery. He was not concerned with accusations of unfaithfulness to the order - after all, this was the final piece in the plan of the Fundamentalists. The Masters of all of the Order's monasteries were now Fundamentalists. They could now prevent any new monks, brothers, or Knights from entering the Order who did not engage in strict Creeper worship, despite the new law announced by the Ealdorman.

Onwards to true independence and righteousness filled Mark's thoughts, as memories of his wife faded.
