My esteemed peers of the Council, I officially propose that the realm of Östlond be immediately recognized as a duchy of the Mercurian Empire, with full rights and duke title bestowed upon Cerdic Accynnafon, son of the late Ealdorman Mark Accynnafon I. My decision to endorse the creation of this new duchy comes on the eve of hearing the news that the Ealdorman Mark Accynnafon II has fully denounced the Mercurian Empire. Our status as Council members and protectors of the Indoles Carta are in jeopardy. I believe that we have a fully cooperative ally in Cerdic. An ally who will be an invaluable asset in helping bring about stability in the eastern reaches of our Empire. I implore you to recognize Östlond's legitimacy! |

While the treasonous cur known as Mark II exists in the East there can be no security, although a measure of it can be instilled with a pro-Imperial rebel within the region. I vote in favour for this for the sake of eventual peace. |
