"Your highness!" A lieutenant shouted, running up to Emperor Myron, seated on his horse in the middle of the road, surrounded by soldiers

"Yes, Lieutenant Gacklain?"

"We drove them from their hideout, but there is bad news as well."

"And what would that be?" replied Myron, narrowing his eyes at the officer.

"We found records, ledgers and shipping lists. For people. The cult who killed your aunt has been shipping both living people and large quantities of our blood across the empire to cells, mostly to wildnerness holdouts outside of any nation, but some are actually within the empire as a whole. I had a messenger take the reports back to your office, so that you can view them at your leisure."

"Excellent work, Lieutenant, ill sleep much safer tonight knowing that.."

The Emperor's words were cut short as arrows rained out of the trees into the Pyrencian soldiers. Myron's horse took an arrow to the neck, and fell the the ground, still alive, but not for long. As the Emperor struggled back to his feet, Gathlain jumped in front of him, shield ready, just in time to block an axe blow that sent him flying to the side, where he collapsed, not moving.

Myron snatched his sword out of the saddle scabbard on his horse and brought it up, turning to face his opponent. He took in the dark robe, metal plates covering the important organs, the purple geometric patterns swirling accross his skin.

"YOU! You are the one who killed Queen Kytha!" Myron shouted, overcome with rage

"That is true, though, I believe the more pressing matter is how im going to kill you."

Myron shouted and attacked.

The Emperor was by far and away one of the best swordsmen in Pyrencia, having trained in many nations to learn different styles, the only people in Pyrencia who could regularly defeat him were the bearers of the Serathrial, but this man, he was in an enitrely different class of warrior altoghether. His reflexes were perfect, and he seemed to have no real style, switching between techniques as if they were natural. His speed, and power had Myron on the defensive in a matter of seconds. It was all the Emperor to do to stay alive at this point. And then, with a resounding crack, Myron's sword shattered. He fell to his knees, hilt in one hand, his other hand dripping with blood from where a piece of his sword landed in his forearm. The cloaked man stood over him, and raise his axe to deal the final blow, when all of a sudden there was a strange gurgling sound.

The man's black eyes widened in shock, and then his head rolled off his neck and onto the ground. As his body collapsed, Myron saw Gacklain standing behind him, a bloody sword in his right hand, his left arm hanging limply at his side.

"Are you alright, your excellence."

"I will be, thanks to you, Lieutenant, though, after today I think youve earned that promotion youve been working for.

"Gacklain smiled weakly and signaled for a medic.

Well, he was harmed, a 3 inch long piece of sword was removed from his arm, but the healers say he should recover swiftly.

A distressing report from Pyrencia. While I am glad that Emporer Myron survived the ordeal, his overall safety seems to be compromised!

The healers at Amora General Hospital would sure love to take a look at the Emperor's arm, should he wish!

The gods favour our great highness. What a harrowing experience. I was gripped at every line of the account. There is no doubt of your greatness.
