Varahein sat behind his desk pouring over three letters. One was... good news, but it wasn't terrible. The other two were. Anthrail and Nathaniel were in the office, they rarely left his side these days. Varahein slowly looked up, "Scrios is dead. Apparently his son accuses this Liserett, the mayor from Wysteria who tried to recruit our best people for her town." "She dared to kill a king? at their own wedding?" Nathaniel nearly shouted "We don't know she actually did it, but yes, the evidence seems to point to that. Note I said seems Nathaniel. Don't overreact. Either way, there is to be a trial soon, I shall have to try to get there." "Father, you can't travel that far, your leg.." said Anthrail "My leg shall have to make it." "If you insist brother, but Anthrail and myself shall accompany you." "I have not the energy to argue, so very well. Saddle the horses and alert the Zenorathin." "Before we do that, what are the other two letters." Varahein sat for a moment, looking as if he was in an immense internal argument. "This one is a report saying a lone operative located the remaining blood." "And the other?" "Celia, and my other sons Volan and Fythal are dead. Slain by endermen." Anthrail fell to his knees as Varahein slowly stood and placed all three letters in a filing drawer. "Come, we have far to ride." |
