Vessels of Dawnstar

Y.o.T.E: 507

Kauppias Class

Taking designs from ancient Ibarahian vessels, the Snow Elves of Dawnstar have taken to the aesthetic and functionality of the styles of old.
Constructed from abundant locally sourced materials, each craft requires remarkably little in the way of exotic or rare materials to function. The lightweight, yet flexible wood from the native blossom trees dotting the landscape gives a strong sea-worthiness to Dawnstar’s fleet.
With the reduction in weight from the materials used compared to more traditionally Mercurian designs, Captains are able to sail with agility and swiftness belying a craft of this size.
Typically used as a means to transport highly perishable materials from port to port, these costal runner vessels are the lifeblood of trade coming in and out of Dawnstar in the Valyrian Realms.
With their unique mast and sail designs, the Kauppias class vessel can sail well in most any weather conditions resulting in less time at sea and less wasted goods or late messages. It’s design has stood the test of time from the old Ibarhian Empire and serves Dawnstar well to this day.

Nopea Class

Similar in design to the Kauppias class vessel, the Nopea class is almost half the size of it’s larger hulled trading cousin ship.
With a only single mast compared to the Kauppias’s 2, it does not suffer the expected reduction in speed, with it’s reduced hull weight and profile on the water allow for the upper limits of sail powered nautical speeds and agility unseen in the rest of the Dawnstar fleets. With this advantage it is able to traverse rivers from the Northern Valyrian Sea and into the heartlands of Dawnstar.
Utilising the same materials and construction methods as the Kauppias Class, the Nopea class vessels are in constant motion, mainly along the Ilmenite Coast of the Kingdom of Perth, stopping at the Valyrian Shipyards for extensive dry dock time if required, before heading to Glas Claddach or Floggen’s Port.
Numbering in the scores, these vessels journey Empire-wide, utilising their coastal and river supremacy, these swift craft are more than a match for equivalent vessels of the age.

Komentaja Class

The Komentaja Class vessel is a triumph of design, combining elements of tradidional Ibarahian ships from ancient times with contemporary Mercurian shipwrhight techniwues. the largest vessel yet built from the Realm of Dawnstar, it's tonnage exceeds that of all ships, even fully laden Kauppias Class haulers. Double masted, full prow and complete ocean traversing capabilities, a complement of 20 sailors is required for a full crew, with modest passenger and hold space.
The first Vessel of this line was created after working closely with a master shipwright from DorEryn, whose hull structuring techniques are closey guarded.
Launched in 524 A.I the Komentaja is a new era for the Dawnstaren Laivasto, making an upscaled presence on the Empire-wide stage.
