Ave, Allies.

News on the historical front. Work has been done with regards to the official date, discussions have been had, dates checked, old documents unearthed from before the upheaval and blackout.

I would like to henceforth proclaim from this date, that the official year is the 430th Year of the Emperor. This is the first Era of the Cycle of the Phoenix, first Mercannum.

(As of the 1st August 2015:)
The date is thusly:
Phoenix 00 - 01.

(In IRL time, when another month has gone by after this post, the date will change to 00 - 02, as 2 Mercannums have gone by in the current Cycle).

Cycle: Name of the overarching Cycle. Named after animals/creatures usually.
Era: A Thoannum within the current Cycle. 72 Years in game. (Thoannum = 12 Mercannum
Mercannum: 6 years in game. (1 Month IRL).

Please discuss if there is anything incorrect. We can keep this post as the reference point for times.

I agree that a clock or something on the front page would be incredibly useful. Also, each mercannum is 6 years or so, right?

Yeah, each mercannum is 6 years. The reason we didn't start on August first is because the decision was made by my lore and I couldn't be bothered thinking logically. :)
I am perfectly happy for the first mercannum to begin with August first, year 430 of the emperor

Having it from the 1st of August is a good idea, I hadn't thought about that. Good idea.

Edited the original post to reflect this.

I like that idea to. We need a quick formula to be able to make a clock. I believe if I am not mistaken it would reflect the current date and time on the computer system.

Merry Mercannum, good citizens!

(wanted to bump thread so more people could see the new date).

Righto, looks like we have started a new cycle, era, and mercannum! This is great! We now can start keeping some really detailed records once again. Should we start a thread and update it accordingly with relevant historic events that occur during each mercannum? I think I'll go ahead and do that, as well as sticky it :)

Also, I'm fairly certain that the first mercannum of each era has always been 00. So this mercannum would officially be Phoenix 00-00.
