I think I'd like more diversity to allow for regional names or perhaps even regional diversity in what the local diamond grade ore contains.

Well I guess I meant more that diamond just refers to the top tier ores, and people can say mithril or some amazing kind of pure iron or some other mystical ore. Up to them of course. For example, I'd likely say that diamond ore contains some mithril (most we'd get from Ardol) and a lot of silver, as well as higher grade iron to make an early steel with.

Gotcha. I think that is an excellent idea to have multiple methods/materials for producing top tier equipment, as that will give people a lot of flexibility. We could have people lore-ify the processes used to create further lore depth.
