Post subject:  The Aethen Language

The following is a guide that will translate many Aethen words into Mercurian/common and explain some of the syntax of the language.

Regular nouns are often combined with adjectives or other nouns to create a proper noun or word that represents more than just its literal meaning. In these cases, the noun will always come before the adjective and the first letter of each segment of the word will be capitalized. "On" is a transition phrase sometimes used that most closely translates to "of". "On" is used before the second word and is capitalized in place of the following word.

Example A: dor + eryn = DorEryn
Example B: echui + eth = EchuiOneth

The following will be structured as follows...

Original Aethen type of word (Direct Translation) {Aethen Connotation} *added note

  • Aethen Sige Tel phrase (Elves of the Snow) {the language, religion, and the race of the Aethen}
  • Aethen noun (elves) {generally only used to refer to the Aethen Sige Tel but is sometimes used to refer to other respected elves}
  • Sige noun (snow) {sometimes used to describe hardships or problems} *Sigen Rua's name is derived from this word. He was named this to represent his origins shortly after Tysir Rua learned that the Aethen would soon be leaving MistaRihw for less inhospitable lands.
  • Tel preposition (of)
  • Caras noun (tower/monument) {a structure to show power over others, be closer to the gods, in distance and importance}
  • Eth noun (life) {life force of a person, a person's soul}
  • Dor noun (land)
  • Eryn noun (prosperity) {a place of home or sanctuary to live in peace}
  • Elin noun (a large collection of books, library) {a place of knowledge or learning, could be interchangeable with college}
  • Brethil adjective (special, higher than) {generally only used to describe people and their social status}
  • Luan noun (holy, palace) {the place of living for a royal or powerful family}

This list will be periodically updated to include new relevant language.
