The first iteration of Pyrencia existed on a island known as the Insali Umbraithe, or the Isle of Shadows. The actual origin of the Pyrencian Civilization on the Isle is factually unverifiable, as all stories of it are laced with religious overtones. The primary story claims that after fathering and mothering the original Pyrencians, the gods swept up their mortal children and placed them on the Isle to keep them hidden and safe from their enemies, the Danaan Empire. Life on the Isle was ruled over with an iron fist by the Azarn-blodh Dynasty. The Ruler of Pyrencia was always male, and always called Atronicus. As far as we know, there was only ever one revolt against the Atronicus line, which was defeated after 10 years of hard fighting throughout the Isle. The Pyrencians who had fought against the crown were stripped of their Pyrencian blood, a process that killed most of them, and turned the survivors back into elves, which suggests that before Pyrencians became Pyrencians were simply elves that came into contact with the parasitic virus that lives within every one of them. Those elves were cast off the Isle, and their fates remain unknown to Pyrencian historians to this very day.
At some points, a ship of humans and dwarves crashed on the Isle, and begged for refuge from the Pyrencians. Not trusting the shipwreck survivors, the King at the time told the refugees that they would grant them permission to live on the Isle of Shadows if they merely lived through the transformation ritual to become a Pyrencian. Not having much of a choice, the sailors accepted. Many of them perished, but enough survived and successfully integrated into Pyrencian society so much that most Pyrencians dont even realize that there are different races of Pyrencians.
