Hello everyone, I'd like some opinions on what you guys think about implementing an official texture pack for the server. Currently, most players use John Smith or some variation of it, and I beleive there's an option that opts players if they would like to use the server's texture pack upon logging in. Maybe we could look in this as a way to instate an official texture pack for the server?

John Smith isn't really to my taste, so I wouldn't be in favor of using it as the base.

I support using some variation of JS as the offered pack when you login, giving new members the option to download the version most of us use.

When most of the server is made using one texture pack, it's pretty clear that it's already become the semi-official pack.

He's not talking about making it mandatory, so sadistic/masochistic people who want to continue to use Mojang's abysmal art style known as the default resource pack (and share their screenshots of it with us) could continue to bludgeon their/our eyes.

I'm in favour of an official 'recommended' server texture pack, the likely candidate being the remixed John Smiths pack which Mark has done for us here.

I believe it makes sense to have a recommended pack for players, the most obvious reason being for consistency when building. If it looks good in the official pack and default, you know other players will be able to appreciate what you are trying to accomplish with your build

Marks John Smith pack is fine being the recommended pack for the server, but I honestly dont know why everyone has a fetish for having everything look so dirty and crappy all the time. Also connected textures in john smith make all wooden slabs stacked on each other look like fruit baskets, and im not sure about anyone else, but that would turn half of my houses into fruit baskets.

Oh you're right. But i was thinking of Halcyon Days. Regent used to use it and would always ask why people had fruit on their floor.
