As the previous thread may not be the best place to have a conversation about travel.

Ideas suggested:

holy fuck. make another thread for that idea. have a bunch of different locations maybe from Concordia to be accessed via boat

Definitely including the original capital, first settlement of the empire, and precursor to modern history: Mercury Isle! It even has a shit tonne of boats already.

I do think that fast travel to the old world should be limited in a sort: Only 1-2 fast travel points. It's not even that big across.

Regent wrote:
Perhaps fast travel within the old world, with hubs to the new world in the Chemical Straights (the entrance between the two, near hyranjandi), and Mercury Isle (given it was the largest port city and defacto capital of the old world, well, disputed with the unfinished Imperial Project).

There is a small port with a partially complete ship at Geron's Torch that could serve, I suppose. It's the closest port to the Chemical Straights that I remember. I believe it also has access to the nether network but that's something that needs to be confirmed.

Something to remember is that the Old World is much smaller than the New World and has extensive Nether Lines, so we would not require as many fast travel points within it.

those better lines are not horse standard.

just ssomething to consider when comparing sizes, running is a lot slower than riding a horse

The plan is to have horses teleport with you, but that is obviously something that may not be possible.

To speak more on the technical side, is this going to be a custom plugin? I ask because it is a relatively simple plugin to make (teleporting with signs) and to add the feature where your horse comes with you would not be too difficult to do either. You know what, Im gonna try making a test plugin that does exactly that.

The old world nether was also heavily modernized for the times; as in, rail systems were extensively implemented by realms. The already short distance coupled with the moderate speed boost that rails give over walking meant that travel was quite fast. I don't really see a need to bring horses in unless you plan on doing extensive overworld travel, in which case you could get a native born old world horse.
