King Aven Arjen of Ertia, I send this letter to you in the care of Jakon Talren. If you receive it from anyone else and/or if the seal is broken, assume it has been intercepted. There have been many troubling developments in the alliance between Christopher of southern Ertia and Mark II the second of Östlead: including Christopher’s secession from the Empire and his invasion of Caekka. He cannot continue these heinous actions against the Empire and peace. Long ago, the Gathered built the small mining outpost of Caldera for one of your ancestors, and some still reside there. I believe I can convince them to give you the fort freely. The mountains and valleys of Caldera are easily defended and would serve as the perfect staging ground for an army to take Florea. With both of those ports secured, the Östfleot’s strength will wane in the northern Imperial Sea, helping break the blockades of the Imperial Strait and Dawnstar.
