This is a question regarding the declaration of new counties/duchies. I know that one's first duchy is declared through the process of rank ascension, but what are the conditions for the declaration of a further duchy? Does each new duchy require Council approval, or may a duke declare new duchies on their own as long as they follow the standard 3+ counties per duchy rule? The same question could also be asked of independent counties (i.e. can an independent count declare new counties without approval from above?). |

As far as I know, you can group stuff however you like it, but it only matter if you're trying to gain the approval to rank up to King status, and you need the Council approval. So you'd need to think about if they would class it as a duchy. |

Sorry for the delayed response. Also if you are independent, further expansion outside of your approved Duchy would require approval from the Council of the Crowned. |

i think most of the time we've been assuming it as a sort of "If someone complains about it deal with it then" sort of thing. Definitely dont claim a huge amount of land at once, move like one duchy at a time or whatever, but as far as i remember we dont vote on it with as much fervor as we do with actual rank ascensions. just make a post when you want new land and if someone doesnt like it we can deal with it then. |
