Post subject:  Chronnis's Application

Hello! I'm Chronnis/Dylan.

I stumbled random on Hermertia on Reddit(I think?). I'm 24, male, and I really like what you guys are doing here.

I don't have any super cool screenshots of "builds" or anything like that. I've never been one for playing creative mode. What draws me most to this server is the collective lore/world-building, similar to DnD.

In game, my eventual goal is to be an explorer/frontiersman. I'd plan to explore/map more portions of the world and establish establish some frontier towns in the name of whoever would have me, either that or eventually establish my own territories.

As far as skills/talents, I'm pretty decent with redstone, but not a magician. I can build okay looking buildings but I've never done anything crazy big before. I think it'd be a fun experience to help someone out with a large project.

I'm a programmer, not a writer. Lore following:
--------------------------------------------------------------------
-Before you stands a man, stout and shorter than average. His face is weathered, and you can see scars on his hands and arms. Despite his rough exterior, you can see the spark of youth in his eyes, the mischievous smirk, and recognize: He's not beaten yet.

"Greetings, everyone! I am Chronnis Axefall, a blacksmith, from the land of Strassem in the far north. I've come in search of a place to call home and forge a new and bright future! War and plague have left my homeland in a poor state, bad times and bad memories.
-shudder-
Me, I entered military service during the summer of my 22nd year, as was expected, but not required, of all young men in Strassem. I served for 10 years, I did, warring with our neighbors to the east over land that was more barren than not.

During my leave, a two year rest between my fourth and fifth years of service, I met the love of my life, Anabell. We were married in short order, and soon we had a beautiful baby girl, Kiara. Aye, but I had to leave them and return to the field.

Three long, long years later I returned, my duties done, only to find that the plague had taken them both during the winter. Heartbroken, I was, and lost. So I did the only thing what made sense, heh, I rejoined the military.

It was there I spent the next three years, fightin' and grievin', grievin' and fightin', and it sparked something in me that I'd never known before: the wanderlust, the thirst for adventure. And so I packed my bag, turned my feet southward, and began to travel.

Almost two years later, I am here, ready to forge a new home in new lands."
...
"Oh? Why am I so short? Well, I'm half-dwarf, of course!"
--------------------------------------------------------------------
More non-lore:

Well guys I hope I've made enough of an impression to gather some votes!

Here are some answers to other questions I've seen asked to applicants.

-Are you particular to building in certain biomes?

I'm not super picky but I do prefer something with trees or decent hills.

-If you ran into conflict where you and another player wanted to build in the same location, how would you resolve the issue?

I'd give it up or offer to co-build. I'm not very adamant about where I need to build things and my epic build skills are sub-par anyway.

-So firstly I ask which nation at this time seems most interesting, whether it's culture, people, actual lands, just about anything. Tell me why!

Wysteria, for sure. It's out on the edge of known civilization! I can't even find a proper map of it. Sounds like a good time.

Welcome to Hermertia, I must say love your application as well as your lore =P

I am a Wysterian myself, here's a map I recently made for the Duchy. To give you a sense of scale, Gallen and Chester-le-Ford are about 1k blocks apart.

I'm sure you'll be voted in in no time and whichever realm you end up choosing, I look forward to see what you come up with =D

For Glory!

Welcome to Hermertia, glad to see you finally got your application up! You've already done a tonne for research and answered basic questions we ask everyone. So you're off to a fantastic start! Wysteria is a great duchy, though I warn you, it's dangerous for reasons other then the frontier (Liserett). I hope you find yourself at home here and with that, I'll give you your first vote!

I love that you went ahead and answered the questions. I can't wait to see how Nicholas takes that, he likes asking questions.

You have my vote.

Thanks for the support everyone!
And, Liserett, that map is fantastic. Thanks for sharing.(MOAR EDIT: I got bored so I estimated the land coverage of Wysteria based on your map. Going to say ~17 km^2 or ~4200 acres)

EDIT:
Also, thanks to Gimpy for answering my snapchat about forum account and Samaia for the PM asking if I needed help which I am unable to reply to.

You've got my vote. Impressive foresight to be answering typical questions. You seem like the kind of player we'd like on the server, right attitudes. We look for cool people to be a part of our team and community to goof around with and have fun.

Dawnstar is one of the newest nations to arise from the Cycle of the Phoenix. It is mostly an untamed wilderness, and the only builds so far are a frontier walled fort-village, a Castle and a remote fishing village or two. Our population is mostly native Aethen(Snow Elves), but we would welcome select outsiders.

We're not doing liege offers until you get all the votes required ( which are currently 1 or 2 dukes and one more King.

You've got my vote and the first King Vote, mine to give via the proxy powers come from being the Hand of the King to the royal house of Perth.

Good luck sir, you'll get on no problem, just wait a few days while we whip people up to read your application.

Having applied for admittance to the Mercurian Empire and completed his entrance interview, Chronnis sits on a bench, enjoying just a few moments off of his tired feet. His thoughts begin to wander. What's to come? Is this where I will find the adventure I seek? While the future is drowned in uncertainty, the past is in razor sharp focus. Thoughts drifting, Chronnis remembers his first mission with the Iron Corps...
---
It's shortly after midnight, and all is still in the small forest in the east of Strassem. I huddle in a group with six other soldiers. The cold night air stings my face as we wait. Several long minutes pass, the signal is given. We, seven elite soldiers, strike out, slowly making our way toward the nearby village. 'Get the girl, get out,' I repeat in my head. 'Get the girl, get out.'

Time drags on as we creep slowly forward; we arrive at the village unseen. There is no moon this night, and the village windows are shuttered and dark. By the light of the stars, we approach the target. The rest of my squad fans out around the perimeter. A door is quietly popped open; the squad leader beckons me forward; I enter the house.

I creep through the dark hallways, choosing my steps with care. Wearing only my leather armor, I feel very vulnerable in enemy quarters. I unsheath my long dagger as I approach the room where we believe the girl is being held.

At last, I'm here. I hold my breath as I peek around the corner towards the room. A lone guard sits atop a wooden stool near the door, and, what luck, he has fallen asleep.

Slowly, I make my way down the corridor. Upon reaching the guard, I notice he is but a boy. He can't be past the age of fourteen. I clasp my hand tightly over his mouth and put my sword to his neck. "Quiet!" I whisper harshly. "Do as I say. I'm going to let go, and you're not going to say anything. Understand?"

The boy nods, shaking, and I release my grip from his mouth. He closes his mouth tightly, and I motion him into the corner. "Stay there. Don't move." I take his keys and open the door to the room. The girl, Azjira Greyhaven, daughter of an influential noble in Strassem, sits upon the bed. "Your father sent me." I say quietly into the darkened room, and I motion her towards the door.

I catch a flash of motion out of the corner of my eye. Spinning away from the motion, I bring my dagger up defensively. "Stupid boy!" Still whispering. "Go now! Run!"

But the boy did not run.

...

Minutes later, I escort Azjira from the house. The leader gives the signal to procede back out of the village, and we march silently into the night.

The mission is a success, but, I do not feel as if I have won.

Tough times from your character's past. I hope your application is successful so that your talents can be used to safeguard our nations from evildoers.

It looks like I've got enough dukes! Thanks everyone!

Is there another king that would speak for me and grant me admittance to the great Mercurian Empire?
