Hello!

I'm avalon1805, I found this server through /r/minecraft and I really liked the idea of a vanilla-rpg type of gaming. Never have donde rpg, but I would love to do it, I enjoy creating stories to my videogames characters and lore about their worlds. I'm 19 years old, I will enter collegue in January to study computer science, right now I have the possibility to play 2- 3 times a week in the afternoons (6-8 pm UTC -5) english is not my native language (spanish is) but I try my best to write properly

regarding my character, I was thinking about being a kick-ass mercenary, being a bad-ass and saving people, but I think I find more appealing entering this world as a complete outsider.

Just a guy who founds himself in a new world to explore and to learn from it (I haven't read all the lore you guys have) and while time passes and he learns more and meets more people he will build his path to greatness, whatever that means. Maybe he will be a commoner his entire life, maybe he will learn a secret art, maybe he will become a master of sword and shield, nobody knows his destiny, not even him.

So a little lore about my character:

wait, WHO AM I?
I don't remember my name! I don't remember anything at all! *starts panicking* Ok, calm down, breath deeply and just focus... what is my name? I have one, I know it, but what was it? Av... Av... Avalon! that's right, my name is Avalon! Where was I before "being" here? I should be somewhere, or maybe I just appear from thin air, no that's impossible, or is it? Oh, what Im saying, I'm talking like a mad man!

maybe I'll try find someone that can tell me where I am... *starts walking out of a forest* I just hope someone could guide me in this new brave world...

Hello! You are off to a good start with your application, and I have a few questions for you to help you expand your lore. I know many of the kings and dukes like lore with a few more details. It appears as though your character remembers little of their past, is there a reason for their lack of memory? Is your character from Hermertia or are they from beyond our borders? Answering these questions should help you start to expand your lore. Also, do you have any screenshots of past builds? I'd love to see what your build style is like. Also, the Chairman and I both speak Spanish as a second language, so don't worry if your English isn't perfect.

Greetings! I'm glad you've found your way to our applications section; I'm Duke Nicholas, your Minister for Applications and Settlement and /u/Captain_Mayday.

As a matter of course, to start out I'll point you in the direction of our FAQ: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=192. If you haven't seen it already, it offers a good introduction to the basic principles and traditions of the Mercurian Empire. Now, on to your application!

The tale of a stranger seeking entry to the Mercurian Empire to grow and be molded by it is an old one; my great-uncle, Adam the Wayfarer, once made the journey to the shores of Mercury Isle, in the Old World. Across the Empire, there are countless cultures and countless new faces; all, however, are welcoming to those who are in the search for a new home or a new experience.

If you have any questions about our history, please do ask: many of us have been around for yonks and can provide some historical context.

Finally, I would appreciate it if you could provide some answers to a few questions I typically ask of new applicants:

-Does Avalon have any special skills he could bring to Hermertia? (Redstone engineering, architecture, farming, you name it.)
-Are you particular to building in certain biomes?
-If you ran into conflict where you and another player wanted to build in the same location, how would you resolve the issue?
-Tienes alguna proyectos en Minecraft que puedes montrarnos? (Or something like that, aha)

Regarding my character's lack of memory: I want to create a character based in your world. Often people wants to impact the world with their character's lore, they want them to be a turning point in the history, a hero, a villian, a savior, someone that the world will remember, I want to do the opposite.

I want the world to impact my character, let the stories and events forge him, I also want to impact the world, but in order to do that I want him to "be" part of the world. I feel that his past is not the important thing, his future is.

But a little lore is always good:
Hello good sirs! Finally I found someone in this dense forest, is good to find other souls in this strange world. m'lord aurennis, I'm starting to remember a bit where I come from. I used to live in a world similar as this one but I was completely alone, I was the only one, appart for all the animals... OH GOD! the animals! I used to raise them! I think I was a farmer before arriving here. I was fond of the land, growing vast extensions of wheat fields, making pens for all the animals I could sustain, mine wasn't a spirit of industry, mine was a spirit of nature.

To answer your questions, m'lord nicholas, my hands enjoy working the land, creating my own food, and raising animals. I used to live in forested regions like this one, near rivers that could provide fish which I really like. I also liked to settle in tall mountains in which fortifications could be carved in.

Now to answer in a non- lorish way. I like to farm, to create big fields of wheat and other vegetables, this is the first thing I do in all my gameplays after I have built a shelter. In contrast to that I like to make castles in the top or inside mountains, like a dwarf haha! Sadly I don't have any screenshots to show you, I used to have a modded world with millenaire and thaumcraft in which I built an epic castle, but the world bacome laggy as hell and had to erase it

I'll try making some builds in creative so gou guys see my style. I like to combine aesthetics and functionality.

My favourite biomes are:
forests
mountains
deserts
jungles

Finally, if I ran into conflict with someone over a location, firstly I would talk to him/her see what he wants to build, maybe both of us want to build something similar and could share the build. If not, ask him/her why he considers to have claim over the location, if its a valid reason (idk, is in his territory, or has made a claim, etc.) Then I would kindly leave. If not, I would seek help from someone to be an arbiter in the issue. At a last resort I would wage war, because at the end war is something we could do in lore, right? It wouldnt be something personal and neither I would hold grudge ove the other player, just something that would happen in lore when the issue cant be resolved diplomatically.

I like your idea of how youre planning on shaping your lore and character. I had a similar approach when I started a few years ago. Please continue along questions and stuff. We love when new people comment on other threads etc around the site.

Although I come from an unkown land, that not even me knows where is it, I feel at home in this new realm. I have nothing with me, except these dirty rags, but having your trust makes me feel the richest man in this realm! I will read all this knowledge you have gave me hastily, and try to understand this new world that is in front of my eyes.

I do have a question, this realm appears to be inhabited by several sentient races, some of which I have read in your annals, these are: elves, orcs, dwarves and humans, is there any other race perhaps I have missed during my study time?
