yeah. only the dukes bill was passed. That only makes it so you need less kingly votes. :P

You made your appplication system a little too complicated, to be totally honest ^^ Even more when half of the kings seem to be inactive or semi-inactiv.

Edit: How many Kings are there right now?

EditEdit: Six Kings and 3 out of these Kings have zero to four posts in this forum. I was told that one of them is totally inactive. Which means you allways need 100% of the Kings to accept the application since just 3 of them will take notice of the Application in the first place. This means you can actually just say 3 King votes are needed to be approved. If someone would need 4 votes, he is going to be out of luck. ^^

Which means as a result that the "real" power the council of the dukes yields is next to nothing.

I hope you don't mind me saying all this. But as a law student this makes me cringe a little. ;-)

I think it helps screening out those who don't want to join "enough" =)

The kings are active, I just think real life is happening right now. I assure you the wait is well worth it. Be patient and you will not regret it =D

I promise you this, out of our six kings while one does not check the forums often he is online almost daily, two others the twins Scrios and Kyn a check the forums daily but it seems with the real life business venture taking up their time they can't be that active right now. We have another king who is on vacation (it is summer time) and also King Varahein. We have a completely inactive king at the moment yes, technically we have about 5 inactive kings. You make a good point that this newest one should probably be put on the inactive list I agree, however at this point you still need three king votes, none of the other new applicants have been accepted yet, please count yourself lucky that it's taken this long to get "two votes" for myself and some others it's used to take up to a month to get accepted, not because of inactivity but rather our screening process was incredibly complicated. We do this because we want the best fit for our world. And while almost everyone is a good fit who applys the whole process almost always scares of trollers or young children. And finally don't take an air of superiority on something you really know nothing of, the Dukes powers are limited yes but that's the point, the Dukes aren't supposed to be incredibly powerful for only the highest of highest should grant acceptance into our lands. The kings are our oldest and most respective players. Thanks for understanding the wait and feel free to ask any more questions.

I will also state that this is our third forums after our last was recently ddos'd by we don't know who. So that is why only 4 kings have posted in this forum.

I thought you said that our application process "scares off toddlers and young children", and racked my brain for memory of previous toddlers who had attempted to apply but had been rebuffed by our application system. I was unsuccessful.

But in all seriousness, reasonable points from all; yes, our applications process can be long, drawn out, and sometimes inefficient. Trust me when I say though that they are worth it; they almost always provide us with the right screening process to ensure we have a committed newcomer who will respect that values of Hermertia. With an almost completely vanilla server, acts of wanton destruction, griefing, theft, and other actions that an applicant who gets in with only a cursory examination might be liable to commit are equal to terrorism and result in very serious charges; as a result they are rare.

In regards to the House of Dukes, you might find it interesting to know that this body is relatively recent; it was established after the Unravelling to provide a greater voice for the community, separate from the Council, and has powers to introduce or veto legislation accordingly. We don't claim to have any greater powers, and that's not our intent; our application bills simply allow a majority of Dukes who approve of an application to speed along the process somewhat. Major voting has traditionally been in the hands of the Council; they are our oldest players, and a number have been around since the beginning.

Gimpy is also right in that applications used to take much longer; while I'm not sorry they move somewhat faster now, it puts things in respective a little perhaps? As a certain former Regent of the Empire was fond of saying, we will always move in ebbs and flows; it is unfortunate that an influx of applications has coincided with a number of royal absences due to personal reasons or other time commitments.

Real life does suck and it hoovers up the time that people have.

I got a short message from Kyn the other night, and he has said that the approval of myself is enough to sway his vote. King Kyn, King Scrios and myself have been " Brothers of Valyria " ( A term of enormous respect between our two nations, Perth and Valtoros, which form the greater Realm of Valyria) for a number of years now, and as such their confidence in my ability to put the server's interests at the forefront of my actions is unmatched.

In the interest of not making people wait for ages unnecessarily, King Kyn officially extends his vote through me. He has been, along with Scrios, extremely busy in a business venture IRL, and accompanying other stuff that has meant their spare time is at a premium.

As the old saying goes, there are Ebbs and Flows when it comes to play time!

Anyway. Welcome to Hermertia. This place is awesome and you're gonna love it.

May the liege offers commence!

Congratulations on achieving your required votes! Now that prospective lieges may begin to extend offers, I would like to throw my name into the hat and extend you an invitation to the lands of Wysteria.

After over 150 years – two years in real life – of history as part of the Kingdom of Ertia, I and a group of adventurers set off in search of our own lands. The result is Wysteria, a great land in the making. Accompanied by my stalwart vassal Count Merry, and joined by the excellent Biakko O’Kleefe, we have taken great strides and would love for you to join us!

With the goal of one day becoming a powerful realm, fast progress is being made. The foundations for the great city of Gallen are being laid as I write this, with work already complete on the hilltop walls and the sprawling docks that will form the core of its economic and trading hub; meanwhile, the plains are home to Biakko's fast expanding town of Chester-le-Ford and, farther off, Merry's burgeoning county. The land itself is suited to a multifaceted realm, with nearby biomes including plateaux, deserts, beaches, plains, savannah, and swampland. With Merry, Biakko, and myself nearby, Wysteria offers both close support and vast stretches of unexplored land to make your own. It is a land where anyone can pursue their goals and have a hand in the beginnings of a new history.

If you’re interested, I’ve included a few pictures of Wysteria and its environs:

Image

A map of the lands of Hermertia, with Wysteria’s location circled. Both a good ways off from neighbors and close to the center of the East, Wysteria’s location allows for unimpeded expansion while remaining in the thick of international business; we maintain strong ties with Ertia (not far to the north of us) and are a mere 10-minute travel via the fully complete Nether Lines to the Imperial Isle and Mount Empire, the future Capital City of the Empire.

Image

A slightly outdated shot of Gallen’s dock’s under construction: complete with two cranes, market stalls, and ore processing, the city looks on track to become an economic hub. Special facilitie have also been created to host fishing derbies in the future – these are spur-of-the-moment contests we have to see who can fish the best loot in a short period of time, and they are a blast!

Image

A sample of the varied geography that makes Wysteria such an interesting location: Gallen’s town proper is set to be constructed on one such plateaux as shown here; separated by winding rivers that lead to murky swamps, leafy forests, and sweltering deserts, we have it all!

Image

A map of Wysteria made using Amidst, a Minecraft mapping program. This shows off the variety of our lands: in a small region, newcomers have access to locations in many different biomes. (Gallen is located in the grey area in the bay)

As to your requests, I would leave it up to you to decide what best suited your interests; whether it would be founding your own county, travelling Wysteria to construct builds, or anything else. I would also be able to guarantee as much support as you need: Wyesteria has been propelled to economic success through such industrial innovations as our Beacon Mines, ensuring full coffers and plentiful resources.

If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to shoot me a pm with questions or post them here! In the meantime, I’m sure others will be making offers too; good luck in choosing!

Thanks a lot for your offer, kind Sir. It sounds like a pleasant realm and I will take it under consideration with any other offer I might get.
