Hey there,

my name is Jared, and my in-game name is jmac7 or just jmac is fine. I'm a 19 year old college male at Michigan State in the US, I grew up here in Michigan, and I've played minecraft on and off for at least four years, possibly more I am not sure. I very much like college and professional sports here in the US, I play a lot of video games and DotA2 for the PC and Battlefield 1 for the xbox one are my two favorite games right now. Music wise I really like hip hop music and some harder rap, artists like ASAP Rocky and Chance the Rapper are two of my favorite. If you have any other questions about me feel free to ask, I love to talk.

As for my past, I am a successful young merchant who has traveled to the Mercurian Empire seeking not power, but currency. In my home lands of the I dealt with every ware under our nations sun! However, my homeland is very small, there are not great treasures to be found nor does an epic adventure wait; and that is why I am here. I have heard the stories about the Mercurian Empire, the dukes and the kings with gold vaults stacked to the cieling, and that is what I yearn for. I have great experience in mining techniques that will help me establish a stock and from there I intend to become a reliable provider of a select necessary needs, such as providing large amounts of stone brick or iron blocks in bulk to buyers. At first I accept a small range of different currencies in exchange for these, an iron block in exchange for two stacks of stone, 8 emeralds for an iron block, it really depends on what I gather is an appropriate exchange from person to person. However, the main goal that I have previously deployed in several of my previous adventures have been trader stations. These stations are a small hut, usually smaller than a 10x10x10 cube, where in one chest you place your currency, and in the another you receive your goods, no interaction with anyone is necessary. My dream, one day much later on, would be to be successful enough to create a shopping center if possible, where any person could open up a shop if they wished, and could sell whatever wares they wished.

http://imgur.com/a/iwj4d -- this is an example of one of the shops that I designed for use on another server.

http://imgur.com/a/In22p -- here is just a castle I built one snow day, give you an example of some of the architecture I prefer to use (Kinda mid-evil actually).

I am pretty proficient in red-stone engineering. I spent a large amount of time playing in a superflat world that was pretty devoid of resources so I learned very well how to automate many systems including cobblestone machines, chicken farms, automatic wheat farms, things like that.

Welcome to the Mercurian Empire!

We always ask a few questions first:

* What would you do if you had a territory dispute where it was contested?

* If you had to pick a few biomes to build in, which would you choose?

* When would you usually play?

* Our system relies on a liege-vassal system. Have you read our FAQ to understand how this system works?

* We use Discord, a voice program to talk while we are playing. Would you be open to joining our voice program?

Thanks for posting, and I look forward to your responses!

Definitely post more build pics, as you will need to grab the attention of the Kings and Dukes to earn votes!

Hello fellow Michigander! Those trading posts look pretty cool. What's your favorite redstone contraption that you've built?

Territorial wise, my first instict would be to bargain with him. I often have large underground tunnel systems and I easily could see myself slipping up and entering someone else's area unintentionally. In this case I would offer to reimburse them in some manner, whether through a deal at my shop or with direct currency. If this manner couldn't be resolved I would take it to my liege and gather their opinion on it. My main biomes are either the forests or fields I would say, I very much prefer as large, flat area as I can gather. However!, that is not to say that I wouldn't mind an opportunity to dig out the provided area from a hill or mountain if necessary as those are great resources.

I would play anywhere from noon to midnight E.S.T., with exceptions being in college my schedule is not always very set. However, I hope to put in an hour or two at least each night if I get in a groove and am having fun.

I've read the FAQ several times now and feel fairly solid on the system. However, I wanted to ask how differing governing bodies are there? I believe you mentioned needing 3/6 Kings/Queens votes plus the dukes, or 4/6 so there would be 6 of those? I guess what I am more interested in is how many lieges are there total? The server seems quite popular, is it that in many areas of the map I could find a handful of lieges at least? Or is it more there are selected, concentrated bundles around the map?

I would definitely be open to speaking on discord however I won't be getting a new mic for a week or two, and then as long as my roommate wasn't sleeping or studying I would be able to.

I will try to dig up more pictures if I can! However, I stopped playing for around a year and can't seem to find many of my old pictures, but I'll try to post some more.

Hmm, I really love the shops because those were around the peak of my redstone experimentation. I have created several different hidden door contraptions that have been quite unique, but I think the number one would be a fully functioning bridge that could drop intruders into a lava pit, I will have to try and find a picture or recreate it!

Ave, traveler!

Welcome to the Mercurian Empire! Your application has been read by myself and I have to say, I like what I read. We're looking for forward thinking, open minded individuals to join our collective Realms and push ever onwards.

I have taken a liking to your exterior design for your castle, it's unique and we haven't seen anything quite like it before. I would want to see more of your design. Interiors are interesting too, hidden doors and chests, I like it.

I would want to see more of your buildings, and who knows, you could spring up a competitor to the already established Merchant's Guild. Competition is always healthy!

You have my vote off the bat! You'll need 60% of active Kings (3/5 at this time) and usually a passed Duke Bill (60% of active Dukes) would help that be lowered to 50% of Kings but fifths don't split evenly very well, so 3/5 Kings it is!

On this map: The Kingdoms are spread out fairly evenly, and are all noted as such, the other Realms of Duchies and Counties that are indepdenent, are only noted with their name, to provide clarity for the Kingdoms.

I'd ask, what do you look for in a Liege (player) to take you in ?

The main two governing bodies would be the House of Dukes and the Council of the Crowned. Other minor bodies with power are the Imperial Cabinet and Judicial Courts.

In terms of which affect you as an applicant, it would be the former 2. You need a 50%+1 of the Kings to vote for your applicant, which is currently 3 Kings out of the 5 active, sitting Kings with voting power. A bill passed from the House of Dukes also would help in most circumstances, however, right now you would still need three King votes as the bill from the House of Dukes only helps to remove that +1 above the 50%.

With regard to lieges, any player who is of the rank of Count, Duke, or King may be a liege. This also includes those that are under another liege himself. For example, as a Duke, I have 2 Counts under me. Those Counts could also take on vassals.

WIth regard to server population, density doesn't matter as much these days as it once did. We have both an extensive, horse-safe nether line system and a maritime, port-based fast travel system with 11 fast travel points. At this current time, there doesn't seem to be a particular concentration of players taking on new vassals - nor is there a particular concentration of players, other than a few realms with many vassals. Among those areas that are perhaps more concentrated than others would be the areas circled on this map:

As you might expect, these are also areas that are not looking for vassals as much right now as they did in the past.

Hello there Jared!
So far, an exemplary application. I love your interior decoration and the use of redstone engineering intrigues me. As someone who barely has a basic knowledge of how redstone operates, I hold those proficient in its art in high regard.

In answer to your question about the number of lieges, There are currently 8 kings, however only 6 are active at this moment. Dukes and Counts can also be lieges so the total number of possible lieges at this moment in time is roughly 20, but the number of people able and willing to take on new people will be lower than this.

Do have a look around for more pictures if you have them as applications with ample pictures often move along more quickly. If you can't find anything from your old builds perhaps put together a few things in creative for us?

I wish you the best of luck young sir! I shall be watching your application with interest

I don't really need much in terms of assistance, and I usually prefer to figure things out on my own and have someone to ask questions instead of being shown around for every single thing. I think someone who could offer me guidance into the system so to say, show me the ropes of how the different hierarchies plays into the game, how the economy/trading is done on the server, good places to access the fast travel or nether areas, stuff like that.

So I'm curious, what species is your character? We have humans, elves, dwarves, and a few other random species here. Have you given any thought to that?

Not much because I was unsure of what species currently existed and did not want to chose a wrong one. Which one do you think would be best for a character like this? Are any of the species lore have differing homelands or specialisation in trading? A human may work best because of the love for currency, or a dwarf for the love of gold.

Also, I am working on a project in creative from last night and today that I will hopefully be able to post soon!
