THE BEGINNINGS (OLD HERMERTIA)

In the hinter-lands just North of Minerva emerged a colony named Valyria, composed of settlers striving for autonomy and to develop themselves into a pro-empire nation. In their beginnings, the Valyrian settlers were part of Clan Craig that was controlled by two brothers, Nao I and Kyn I. Clan Craig was in constant conflict with the so called bone people who inhabited the lands that the Clan settlers proclaimed as their own. However, the bone people were not the only concerns for the people of Clan Craig. The Valyrians also had to deal with a large number of creepers that inhabited their lands. The creepers caused constant grief for the clan, blowing up builds frequently and destroying food stores. The Clan would not give up on their land, however, and pressed on, determined to make it their home. Eventually, the Clan was able to light up the area enough to keep the creepers at bay. Finally, the Clan was settling in to their new lands. Little did they know, the bone-people had been keeping a close eye on their situation and were waiting for their chance to push the Clan back into Minerva. Not long after the creeper situation was under control the bone-people started their raids.

The bone-people raids continued on for months. The people of Clan Craig remainded strong, but the strain from the creepers had taken its toll. Kyn and Nao would not let their people down and decided to seek a truce with the bone-people in order for their people to recover. The bone-people would not have any of it and continued with their raids. Kyn and Nao realized that the situation would not be resolved peacefully and were forced to put their peaceful natures aside in order to defend their people. The organized raiding parties of their own and began their assaults on the bone-people. Tensions between the two people could not have been higher and everything came to a head on one fateful, stormy afternoon.

Clan Craig had enough of the raiding, on both sides. They decided to prepare themselves and ambush the bone-people during their next raid. Kyn and Nao sent parties out to the lands surrounding their settlement and stayed to meet the bone-people head on. When the bone-people arrived they were met with a large number of armed Clan members. They charged in attempting to overwhelm the Clan, but to their surprise the Clan was ready for a fight. After defending themselves from the creeper hordes for so long the bone-people were not as challenging as they may have been (as the bone-people were known as fearsome warriors). During the battle, creepers began swarming the settlement. Unlike for many rising colonies around them, the creepers proved to be an important asset to the people of the Clan. Creepers swarmed the lands with their explosive nature and began to break down the growing numbers of bone people. Having dealt with the immense numbers of creepers for so long the Clan Craig was able to comfortably fend off the hords of creepers, the bone people were not so lucky. Using this as a strategic advantage, the settlers of Clan Craig pushed one last offensive against the bone people, almost completely wiping out the bone people race from the area.

It was a bloody battle that saw many casualties on both sides. In the end, however, the bone people suffered far too many casualties to keep pressing forward on the offensive and were forced to retreat beyond the hinter-land. Not all bone-people left with their tribe. After witnessing the ferocity of the warriors of Clan Craig some stayed behind to join their ranks. Kyn and Nao welcomed those who wished to stay on the condition that the bone-people teach the Clan about their culture and ways of survival. This greatly contributed to the rise of the Clan and their people. Those bone-people that did not stay fled to lands outside Minerva. It is believed that some still reside in the jungles surrounding the Kingdom of Valyria, but there has been no proof of this. After the war the two lords laboured night and day establishing the foundations for their people. After years had passed, the foundations were laid, and peace was part of their culture once again the Clan decided it was the perfect time to seek Kingdom status. Kyn and Nao travelled to the seat of the Empire to consult with the Regent. Word had spread and the Regent was impressed with the stories about the Creeper/Valyrian battle with the bone-people. After long discussions, the Regent was pleased with the two lords. He granted them not only realm status but Kingdom status. Out of this immerged the Kingdom of Valyria and the two leaders of Clan Craig were elected Kings. From that point forward, the Valyrians have always remained an ally of the Empire.

Valyria continued to prosper and grow. Falkirk grew immense in size and still serves as a symbol of the peoples accomplishments, especially peace (which is the foundation of the Valyrian culture). However, overtime the Kings realized that they need to divide and conquer in order to maintain their established borders. Nao went to the North to form the Kingdom of Perth and Kyn went South to form the Kingdom of Valtoros. It was decided that Falkirk would house the throne room for both Kingdoms to symbolize their continued union under the same realm of Valyria.
