Common Dwarves

Approximately 30,000 dwarves live within the empire, though estimates are historically unreliable. They are mostly concentrated in the realms of Ardol and the Duroth Commonwealth, though they are present in small numbers in other realms.

Dwarves are admittedly of a smaller stature than most men, but their stocky and muscular build tends to bring them to about equal weights. They tend to have long hair kept in braids.

Dwarves are an extremely developed race with long-held traditions. Their life expectancy is nearly twice that of men, with disputable upper limits. Their intelligence, at its best, is directly comparable to the best of Men's, but tends to be more reserved and patient. At its worst, Dwarves are stubborn, solemn, and often refuse to work together. However, the dimmest of Dwarves tend to be content spending their lives in the mines, so they are rarely seen.

Dwarves live primarily underground, but hold no real reservations for exploring the surface or heights (they often frequent mountaintops for fresh air). It is not quite understood to Men why Dwarves insist on building and living underground. Similarly, Dwarves do not understand many of Men's quirks, such as privatization within a community.

Dwarves are not provoked easily, but are tireless and stalwart warriors, making up for their typically slow marches with brilliant resource and force allocation, as well as a large industrial backbone to grind out the necessities of war when needed.
