he was a young boy when a strange event in the wilderness changed him. Afterwards, he showed little human emotion. He barely slept and hardly ate, though seemed to only grow stronger. As a young man, he joined the garrison at Avatarati and quickly worked his way through the ranks. He was nigh unbeatable in combat and was a ruthless and effective commander. When raiders from the Sejuk horse tribes in the south began to target villages friendly to Casadia, Cerydon was dispatched with a company of men to bring the raids to an end. Within two years he had brought the horse tribes to heel, those his tactics were seen by many as brutal and bordering on barbaric. Nonetheless, his success as a commander garnered attention from the Guardian of Casadia, who mentored him in preparation for taking on the mantle of Guardian.

As Guardian, he focused his efforts on the expansion of the Casadian capital and the renovation of Casadia's infrastructure. He ordered the construction of the Tower of Dawn, which would provide the Casadian councils with a more permanent residence in Ankylos. He also pushed for Casadia to exert more regional influence, as exemplified by Casadia's actions during the Vulcite Crisis, Pyrencian civil war, and the Östron civil war.
